Zarasa on car number 27
From this season, the Zarasa logo travels on the Ligier JS F422 number 27 of the Formula 4 United States Championship. It is driven by Gastón Irazú, Uruguayan, 19 years old, and right now he leads the championship.
He arrives at the last two rounds of the year with seven wins and a 66-point margin over the driver behind him. What follows is who he is, what he has done this season, and why we wanted to be on that car.
Who Gastón Irazú is
Irazú races for Champagne Racing and has moved up one rung of the American single-seater ladder in each of the last three years.
In 2024, his first season racing in the United States, he won the Fórmula FARA championship. It was his first international title, and he closed it out with a win and a second place in the last two races at Homestead, Florida, as reported by Uruguay's National Sports Secretariat.
In 2025 he won the Ligier Junior Formula Championship with five wins and ten podiums in fifteen races, taking the title by 33 points. That championship came with a scholarship worth close to US$ 200,000 to move up inside the Parella Motorsports Holdings ladder, which is what put him in F4 U.S. this year. Uruguay's president, Yamandú Orsi, congratulated him publicly.
The 2026 season
The championship runs to 18 races across seven circuits, from April to October. Two weekends explain where Irazú stands today.
New Jersey, 31 July to 2 August
He won all three races of the weekend, each one from pole and each one with the fastest lap. That sweep put him at the top of the standings for the first time, with six wins to that point and a 37-point advantage.
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, 3 to 6 September
He took his fourth consecutive pole, finished second twice and won race three. His margin went from 37 points to 66, and his win count for the season reached seven.

What is left
Two rounds remain: VIRginia International Raceway on 17-20 September and the season finale at Barber Motorsports Park, in Alabama, on 16-18 October.
If he holds on, he would become the first driver to win the Ligier Junior Formula Championship and the F4 U.S. Championship in consecutive seasons.
Why we are there
F4 is a spec series. Every team runs the same Ligier JS F422, so the car is not what separates one driver from the next. What separates them is preparation, reading the data from each session, and the decisions taken between one lap and the next.
