What Agentforce does, and what it does not
Agentforce is Salesforce’s agent platform. Unlike classic automation, which follows rules defined in advance, an agent reasons about the case, decides the steps and executes them against your org’s data.
That makes it useful for repetitive work that still needs judgment: qualifying leads, answering common questions with the customer’s context, preparing follow-up on an opportunity. It does badly when asked to replace a decision nobody defined in the first place. We wrote about that in Is your company ready for AI?.
How we work
The order matters more than the tool. This is ours.
- Process review. Before talking about agents we look at the process you want to automate and the data behind it. If the data is not there, the agent will not invent it.
- Actions and scope. What the agent can do, what it cannot, and what happens when it does not know. Written scope is what prevents the argument later.
- Consumption estimate. Agentforce bills per action executed, not per user. We work out what your use case will consume before you sign.
- Build and integration. Agent configuration, connection to the data it needs and to the systems you already run.
- Go-live and measurement. We launch with a measured baseline, so you can tell whether the agent improved anything or just moved the work somewhere else.
How Agentforce is priced
This is the question we get most and the one most often misunderstood. Agentforce is not priced per user: it is priced per action executed, and each edition includes an annual allowance that usage draws down.
That changes how you budget. An agent handling ten thousand queries a month does not cost the same as one handling two hundred, even with the same team using it. Which is why we estimate consumption before signing, not after.
Current figures, with Salesforce’s own worked examples, are in Agentforce pricing and Flex Credits.

FAQ
How long does an Agentforce implementation take?
It depends on scope. A focused agent — lead qualification or common-question handling — usually takes six to eight weeks. A deployment with several agents connected to external systems takes twelve to sixteen.
Do I need Salesforce to use Agentforce?
Yes. Agentforce runs on the Salesforce platform and uses the data already there. If you are not on Salesforce yet, the project starts with implementing the relevant cloud.
What if my data is not clean?
It slows you down, it does not block you. The agent answers with what it finds, so data quality sets answer quality. Part of the review is identifying what has to be tidied before go-live.
How do you know whether the agent is working?
By measuring before you switch it on. Without a prior baseline there is no way to tell whether the agent improved the process or only changed who does the work. It is the most common mistake we see.
Does Agentforce replace the sales or support team?
Not in the projects we have seen. It absorbs repetitive work and leaves people the cases that need judgment. When it is bought expecting it to replace someone, the project ends badly even if the agent works.
Does Agentforce make sense for your company?
Free 45-minute assessment. We look at your process and tell you whether an agent solves something or whether something else should be fixed first.
